Biodegradable nitrile: what '26.5% after 390 days' actually means
A short, honest read on what biodegradable nitrile is — and isn't — and how to evaluate environmental claims.
Disposable nitrile gloves are, by default, a persistent waste stream. Biodegradable nitrile is engineered to break down measurably faster in landfill or compost conditions. But the language gets fuzzy quickly.
Our NewBio-100 range is independently tested to ASTM D5511 conditions and shows 26.5% biodegradation after 390 days. That's a specific, repeatable measurement — not a marketing claim.
When evaluating any biodegradable claim, ask: which standard, which test conditions, what duration, and what percentage. If a supplier can't answer all four, the claim doesn't mean much.
